New Paraguay-Paraná Waterway Tolls

The Argentine government decided to establish a new toll for the Paraguay-Paraná Waterway, understanding this decision as a result of its sovereignty over the river. The governments of Paraguay and Uruguay are very unhappy about this measure, as it is causing an increase in costs, affecting their ports. Both countries understand that the Argentine government is taking decisions unilaterally, regardless of who it affects, and do not find valid arguments to establish this toll. In particular, it is not understood that the charging of the toll would bring in return any compensation for the facilitation and/or improvement of navigation on this stretch of the river.
